This fundraising aims to support Kaby for the start of her Medicine Garden project in the Shipibo community of San Francisco at Yarinacocha.

A short introduction about Kaby (for those who don't know her!): Kaby is a descendant of a lineage of ancestral healers from the Shipibo-Konibo community in the Amazon. Today, she is part of a network of ancestral healers of the said community and, together with the members of this network, travels regularly to provide care to patients. Their medicinal practice is faithful to the ancestral tradition and based on a deep knowledge of Amazonian plants.

Despite their precious ancestral knowledge, the Shipibo-Konibo community experiences fairly precarious living conditions. Unfortunately, the Shipibo-Konibo communities do not always have access to the medicinal plants they need for their treatments as they are either not available or sold at high prices that these inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest are generally not able to afford.

This is why Kaby is willing to start this project, with a twofold goal : on the one hand, she would like to make her land of 8000 m2 (currently uncultivated) a Medicine Garden to have at her disposal all the necessary plants for the preparation of remedies for ill patients in need of these. On the other hand, she would like to develop this initiative so that it can become a sustainable medicinal plant center allowing her to raise funds to help her community.

Today she is eager to start with a few seeds, plants... and enough to bring nutrients to her land to have fertile soil.
