Who are we ?

MAP AFRIQUE is a humanitarian and sustainable development NGO created on March 25, 2018 in Benin and officially registered under number N ° 2020-4 / 080 / PDB / SG / SAG / SA and whose head office is located in Parakou in the Republic of Benin, in West Africa. MAP AFRIQUE's mission is to include and promote economically and socially women organized in cooperatives in rural areas, for the enhancement and marketing of their production in 13 towns in northern Benin. This through technical and strategic training, support in their communication as well as logistical and organizational support. We do this in order to enable these women to be empowered, to reduce societal inequalities (early marriages, forced marriages, gender-based violence) and to fight against poverty in these communities. ** By supporting us you ...**

Who are our beneficiaries?

Across Africa, through groups, associations or cooperatives, thousands of women are mobilizing their intelligence, courage and strength to contribute to the well-being of their communities. They organize and work hard to feed their families and lift them out of poverty, ignorance and violence. However, due to a lack of training and resources, their hard work is far too little recognized and valued and they struggle to get out (or do not get out) of poverty! Based on all these findings, MAP AFRIQUE is committed to working alongside these women (agricultural associations and cooperatives) through social inclusion and solidarity programs. We are currently supporting 5 cooperatives (Kpetia, Fèlèzè, Macoin, Warakumbossi, Makonni) composed on average of 35 women each. These are women in their 40 on average. They are in a disadvantaged situation but want to get out of poverty by organizing themselves into work cooperatives to improve their living conditions through the production and sale of products.

Investing in these women is investing in the whole community!

Indeed, women re-invest their income in education, nutrition and health care for their children. This therefore has a positive effect on the well-being of the household and then on the development of the whole community.

What are the objectives of this crowdfunding campaign?

✅ Provide women with the equipment and adequate training to collect and conserve shea

✅ Provide women with the tools and training to produce high quality butter

✅ Support women's cooperatives in the sale of their production

What will the collection be used for?

The money will allow us to provide women's cooperatives with:

1. Practical training in collecting, producing and selling techniques

2. A collection kit consisting of gloves, boots, basins, drying tarpaulins

3. The repurchase of collected nuts * and making them available to cooperatives *

4. A production kit composed of basins, large pots, ladles.

• Out of necessity, many women sell the nuts they have collected to meet the immediate needs of their families. In doing so, they experience a huge loss of income by missing out on the sale of shea butter. By buying back their nuts and making them immediately available to them, MAP Afrique provides them with both the vital resources they need on a daily basis, and the possibility of selling their processed shea.

The action schedule

⇒ Mid-August to end of September: Collection

1. Training on collection techniques

2. Distribution of collection kits (gloves, boots, basins, drying tarpaulins)

3. Repurchase of harvested nuts

⇒ October to December: Production and sale

1. Training on production and marketing techniques

2. Provision of production equipment (basins, large pots, ladles)
